Springbrook  Rural Fire Brigade Area:

DATE OF FORMATION : 1956
MEMBERS : 30 active + 50 support


TERRAIN : Plateau 950m above sea level surrounded by National Parks & State Forestry.
Some areas inaccessible to 4x4 . All 5 coastal mountain ranges run up to & join at Springbrook on the Qld / NSW border.

VEGETATION: ranges from dry eucalypt forest to dense sub-tropical rainforest in the gorges 
and open kikuyu grassland to heavy rainforest at the wet-end of the mountain .

RAINFALL : av 3060mm/annum ( highest recorded 5648mm in 1974 ) to 1375mm/annum at the dry end of the mountain.

POPULATION : Resident population around 600 people.

TRUCKS : 2002 Isuzu 4x4 1800 litre tank
                2005 Isuzu 4x4 1800 litre tank

FIRESTATION : 12.5m x 20m , 2 extended truck bays . Lockup equipment storage .
Upstairs meeting/training area with office , ablutions area & kitchen .

The Springbrook Rural Fire Brigade is a totally voluntary fire service manned by residents of the mountain to provide the best possible fire protection for the residents of the area.
Funding for the service comes from a rural fire levy on each local rateable property collected by the Gold Coast City Council on behalf of the brigade, and also from fundraising activities .
